Course Details:

The mission of the South Carolina Long Term Care Emergency Preparedness Educational Program (SC LTCEPEP) is to provide CMS certified long term care facilities with critical knowledge, skills, and abilities related to emergency preparedness.

We travel the state of South Carolina, providing this free, in-person, 6-hour course that anyone from a certified LTC facility is encouraged to attend, including administrators, activities directors, maintenance directors, engineering directors, clinical providers, and non-clinical staff.

Attendees receive valuable educational resources at no cost, including biannual e-newsletters, online resource portals, informational handouts, emergency blankets, headlamps, and educational videos for conducting facility level training in emergency preparedness. Courses are also eligible for 6 hours of free NAB CE credits.

The Educational Program began in 2021 and is currently on its third year of offering courses. The first year featured a Basic Course offered eight times, two per healthcare coalition. The second year featured the Basic Course and Advanced Course, offered 4 times each. This allows each healthcare coalition to host one Basic Course and one Advanced Course. The third year, running from October 2023 to March 2024, includes the same Basic and Advanced Course offering numbers, 4 each, with locations swapped from year two.

Due to the program’s funding source, these courses are open to professionals representing CMS certified long term care facilities only (i.e. nursing homes), NOT personal care homes, assisted living facilities, hospice, or memory care centers.

If you have any questions regarding eligibility or registration, contact us at scltc@uga.edu
