What is the overall goal of the program?
The program aims to help rural healthcare facilities safely shelter in place longer, reduce unnecessary evacuations, improve continuity of care, and strengthen disaster resilience across Georgia.
Is this a regulatory survey or inspection?
No. Assessments are not regulatory surveys and are not tied to state or federal inspections or compliance enforcement.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. Eligible facilities receive assessments at no cost through the program.
What types of facilities are eligible?
Eligible facilities include predetermined hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), and inpatient hospice facilities located within eligible rural Georgia counties.
What does the assessment evaluate?
Facilities receive a detailed report outlining vulnerabilities, recommended improvements, and potential resilience investments.
Can the assessment report be used for funding applications?
Facilities may use the report to apply directly to DCH for grant funding.
Who is responsible for completing improvement projects?
Facilities are responsible for procuring vendors, equipment, and supplies. UGA IDM will provide coordination support and technical assistance throughout the process.
