Program Details

The mission of the South Carolina Long Term Care Infectious Disease Educational Program (SCLTCIDEP) is to provide CMS certified long term care facilities with critical knowledge, skills, and abilities related to infectious disease precautions, prevention, protection, and disinfection. This two-year program will run from 2025 to 2027. In the first year, we will offer eight in-person Infectious Disease courses—four Foundations courses and four Principles courses—with one of each provided in each healthcare coalition region.

Foundations Course Topics Include:

    • Regulatory & public health trends
    • Chain of infection & transmission routes
    • Hand hygiene & PPE demonstrations
    • Reporting & notification procedures
    • Comprehensive disease review

Principles Course Topics Include:

    • Regulatory trends
    • Precautions
    • PPE demonstrations
    • Reporting & notification procedures
    • Disinfection procedures & interactive sessions

Course Schedule & Registration

The Foundations and Principles courses are designed to build on each other, but you don’t need to take them in a specific order. Participation in the Foundations course is not required before taking the Principles course.
