Abbey Reber, MPH
Program Coordinator III
Abbey Reber is a Program Coordinator III at the University of Georgia’s Institute for Disaster Management (IDM). She earned her bachelor’s degree in public health from Georgia College & State University and her Master of Public Health in Disaster Management from UGA. During her graduate studies, Abbey worked as a graduate assistant at IDM and interned with the Forsyth County Emergency Management Agency, gaining early experience in emergency preparedness and response.
In her role, Abbey leads and facilitates meetings, develops professional presentations and materials, and works closely with external partners to keep projects moving forward. She plays a key role in designing and supporting disaster training exercises, including large-scale initiatives focused on mass casualty incident preparedness in major cities. Abbey also supports graduate-level courses, facilitates disaster simulations, and is currently drafting a manuscript for publication. Her work reflects a balance of hands-on training, academic engagement, and collaboration with public health and emergency management professionals to strengthen preparedness efforts across Georgia and beyond.
Outside of work, Abbey enjoys reading, playing piano, collecting seashells, and learning about disaster response through documentaries and field experiences.
