Project Details

The UGA Institute for Disaster Management, in collaboration with the UGA Office of Emergency Preparedness, is developing a University Assistance Center (UAC) plan. A UAC will be established to provide comprehensive support to students, faculty, staff, and partners at UGA. It will serve as a central resource hub, aimed at providing information and services to support recovery following an incident which interrupts normal services and/or has significant consequences affecting the Athens, Georgia UGA campus community.

The UAC will be implemented within three days post-incident and will remain active for a duration of seven to ten days. The UAC will operate at a physical location on campus and include multiple stations staffed by select UGA services where they will provide the information that students, faculty, staff, and partners might need. Based on circumstances, the plan will include an option to operate the UAC virtually. Once the plan is complete, IDM will provide training to all UGA departments/units that will operate the UAC.
